Kwanzaa

Kwanzza, founded by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966, is a unique African-American celebration of family, community and culture based on seven important principals.

Kwanzaa is a unique African-American celebration of family, community and culture based on seven important principals. The event is celebrated December 26 through January 1, and was founded by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966. Kwanzaa was created to reaffirm and restore our roots in African Culture. Kenté Cultural Center has at least two Kwanzaa celebrations it offers - the Kwanzaa Bazzar in November and a Kwanzaa Celebration featuring the Nguzo Saba (seven principles) which is held the last week in December.
